Can I pass through transaction fees to my investors in Opera IP?

Your Opera IP portal allows transaction fees to be passed through to the investor up to set limits.

Pass-through fees can be charged to your investor on all payment types: credit card, ACH, wire and check. This feature configuration must be enabled by the North Capital tech team. Toggles to turn on and see transaction fees can be found on the Payment Setting tab on the Edit/Create Offering page. If you are not seeing these toggles, please reach out to techsupport@northcapital.com for assistance.

Pass-through fees can be set based off a percentage of the trade total or as a flat fee, but have a cap depending on the payment type:

  • CC and ACH payments

    • Percentage - up to 7% over the trade amount
    • Flat Fee - dollar amount up to 7% or less of the trade amount
    • Please Note: IF fee is over 7% of the investment amount, the cc or ACH trade will be created, but payments can not be processed
  • Wire and Check payments
    • Percentage or Flat Fee can be charged
    • There are no fee limits for wire or check payments

Please keep in mind that all transactions plus fees are sent to the escrow account. If you are making fees non-refundable in case of a failed offering or investor requested refund, this must be disclosed on the checkout page with an attestation.

The attestation can be customized through the attestation link on the Payment Settings page above the Close button.
